- 3DLook
- Tim Maffett
-
- This program changes the the close gadget, depth gadgets, and the
- window sizing gadgets of all Hi-Res windows and screens to gadgets
- which have a 3D appearance. You may have to change your WorkBench
- color scheme to get the full effect. The windows drag bar is also
- changed to what I think is a better looking pattern on a hi-res screen.
-
- The change takes place immediately upon executing the program, and all
- future windows will use these new gadget images. Most windows opened
- prior to the execution of 3DLook will change to the new gadget images
- upon refresh.
-
- This program can be run from workbench (via its icon) or from the CLI.
- Execute 3DLook early in your startup-sequence to catch all the windows
- and screens.
-
- There is a file on most Amiga BBSs called 3DIcons which contains
- 3D disk icons for the Amiga, included in this archive is a program called
- Prefs which has a variety of preferences settings which provides color
- schemes (blue,red,purple,brown,grey,.....) which give both the 3D icons
- and 3DLook gadgets the full 3D effect.
-
- The following information about good 3d color schemes is for those of
- you who are unable to obtain the 3DIcons archive.
-
- - The background color (color 0) can be set to whatever color looks
- best the the user.
-
- - Colors 1, 2, and 3 must be set to a similar shade
- Color 1 should be the brightest, color 2 a little dimmer,
- and color 3 the darkest.
-
- An example set of colors (using the Palette program on the
- 1.3 WorkBench extras disk)
-
- Color 0 (users choice, I like 276)
- Color 1 FFF
- Color 2 AAA
- Color 3 555
-
-
- Using an Amiga with FlickerFixer (704x470 workbench) provides an
- incredibly professional look using both 3D icons and 3DLook (and
- the right color scheme of course).
-
- The program MandelVroom by Kevin Clague (in Hi-res/interlace) which
- uses 3d-icons in its windows, looks great with the 3D window gadgets.
- (MandelVroom can be found on Fred Fisk disk #215)
-
- This program is FreeWare. Use it as you like to improve the look of
- Amigas everywhere.
-
-
- The idea for this program must be attributed to David N. Junod for his
- NewLook program. Thanks Dave.
